Writing.
It’s what I do.
Meet Trish Groves
Hi! I’m Trish Groves, the person behind Five Trees Digital, before it closed in November 2024.
I’m a writer and author a penchant for creative digital media. I love working with mission-driven non-profits and clocked up decades of experience in the sector.
Although I’m based in the Irish countryside, I also love spending time in the beautiful forests of northern Sweden.
When I’m not busy in my day job, you’ll probably find me taking online courses, or figuring out how to live a simpler life on my personal blog, TrishGroves.com. Because I love learning, I’ve racked up lots of qualifications along the way, including:
Post-Graduate Certificate in Creative and Cultural Entrepreneurship from Trinity College Dublin.
Master of Arts (Hons) in Scriptwriting from the Institute of Art, Design & Technology (IADT) Dun Laoghaire, Dublin.
Diploma in Online Marketing and Digital Strategy from Griffith College Dublin.
And dozens of online courses in web design, copywriting, online business and social media marketing!
Writing
I’m a writer for print and the screen. I am a professional member of the Society of Authors and the Writers’ Guild of Ireland, and am a qualified proofreader. My traditionally-published historical biography, ‘Petticoat Rebellion – The Anna Parnell Story‘, was released in 2009 by The Mercier Press. ‘Petticoat Rebellion’ was featured as Irish Times Book of the Day. It was selected from over 300 submissions for ‘Great Irish Book Week‘.
My quirky, short film ‘Rapunzel – The Blonde Years‘, produced through Screen Ireland’s ‘Virtual Cinema’ scheme, has had over 730,000 hits on YouTube, and has been used as an education resource in schools. I have also been lucky enough to have been funded by the Arts Council of Ireland to work with the No Strings Productions puppetry team in the Henson Carriage in New York to film the No Strings Kibing education project.
Why ‘Five Trees Digital’?
My surname is Groves, and a ‘grove’ is a ‘small group of trees’, usually a minimum of five. Groves of trees are sacred in Celtic, Druidic and Nordic mythologies. I like the juxtaposition of ancient cultures with digital marketing, and the analogy of trees providing beauty, growth and longevity online. This fits perfectly into my vision for the business.
It’s also a complicated way of saying: ‘It just felt like the right name.’ And everything ‘grove’ related was already taken.
